The Vision
Today & Tomorrow
A vital community gathering space in Bayfield, serving residents, families, visitors, and marina users. Guided by the East Dock Park Master Plan, this project prioritizes safety while creating an accessible, multi-generational park that connects children to the land, supports outdoor recreation, and fosters shared experiences for generations to come.
Shoreline Connection
Connects visitors directly to Gichigami (Lake Superior), allowing all generations to experience nibi (water) at the shoreline. The lake’s significance to the Anishinaabe people makes this access especially meaningful, supporting learning, reflection, and connection to place.
Year-Round Use
East Dock Park has exciting potential for year-round enjoyment, including winter activities like skating and sledding. By making it safe and accessible, families and children can fully enjoy the park in every season.
How It All Started
East Dock Park began with a simple question: How can this beloved waterfront space better serve our community—today and for generations to come? What followed was a volunteer-led effort through the City of Bayfield’s East Dock Park Playground Subcommittee, shaped by resident input, public meetings, and a shared vision for a safer, more accessible, year-round park. From those early conversations grew a community-informed master plan—and the collective commitment to turn it into reality.
